Welcome and Introduction
Welcome!
This course invites you into the world of the Bible as we walk in the very footsteps of Jesus and those who came before and after Him. Whether you are joining an upcoming Biblical Study Trip to the land of the Bible or are ready to engage the Text in its context wherever you are, this course is for you.
We will prepare by engaging passages in Genesis, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, 1 Kings, the Psalms, Jeremiah, John, Matthew, Mark, & Luke, establishing some Biblical "foundations" using cultural keys for unlocking the time periods and places of the Bible. The framework of Scripture is grounded in the land of the Bible, and understanding its historical, archaeological, cultural, and geographical context provides us better eyes, ears, and hearts to read and receive Scripture. Not only this, knowing that God chose to dwell in human form in that place and time makes it all the more pertinent to grasp with our senses (as much as humanly possible) the context of the Text. To understand the Biblical writers and audience well, we must study in their world.
