Weekly Rhythm

Weekly Rhythm

While participating in this course, each of the 6 weekly lessons will review the included prayers, maps, and timelines, and provide video teachings and weekly reading. These are designed to help build foundations for engaging the Text in its first century context. Though each week has some unique details, all lessons will follow a similar rhythm as outlined below:

  • SH'MA
    • Each week we encourage you to posture yourself with humility by reciting the Sh'ma prayer as you begin each lesson.
  • VIDEO LESSON
    • Each weekly lesson features at least 1 teaching video, followed by some additional written thoughts and questions.
  • PARASHAH (Weekly Reading Portion)
    • We will engage a new book(s) each week that we encourage you to read (or listen to) in one sitting if possible, as if part of the original audience hearing it for the first time.
  • REVIEW
    • Map of Paul's Journeys: By studying the geographical layout of Paul's journeys you will become familiar with the locations of various cities and ports in Asia Minor, and also when and how often Paul traveled between them.
    • Historical Time Periods: Familiarize yourself with the order of historical time periods as these will be referenced throughout your study.
  • "OUR FATHER" - Lord's Prayer
    • To close out each week's lesson, please say the Lord's Prayer, also known as the "Our Father." This prayer sums up so much of Jesus' teachings. He lived this prayer. It is appropriate, then, to have these words on our hearts as we close out each week's study.

Throughout this journey our goal is to follow Jesus and to learn more about what that looks like through readings of the Text, studying how his disciples lived, and striving to live the Sh'ma in our own lives every day. So strap on your first-century sandals, grab a pen and paper, and may God bless the reading of His Word!
